AERO ANNUAL RECAP – AND A LOOK FORWARD

2019 has been an amazing year for our organization. We continue to grow in influence, increase our membership, extend our outreach and provide the world’s leading resource for Aviation Emergency Response. Here are just a few highlights:

  • Welcomed Dr. Rhea Sheldon – former astronaut and now chief medical officer for the Vanderbilt Medical Group – as our keynote speaker at the annual AERO General Membership meeting in Washington, DC
  • Continued to post and update valuable materials in the MEMBERS ONLY section of the AERO website http://www.aviationemergency.org/login/
  • Developed a communications plan and finalized an informational AERO brochure to hand out at organizational meetings and trade shows http://www.aviationemergency.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/AERO-Template-FINAL-V3-4-27-19-PDF.pdf
  • Provided AERO input to the FAA regarding Manifest Guidance policies
  • Welcomed new BOD members Rich Accordino of United Airlines and Pamela Cecil-Pullen of UPS to the AERO leadership team
  • BOD Chair Barb Webster was a featured speaker at the Aviation Festival Americas 2019 conference
  • AERO members participated in the Triennial Disaster Drills at CLT and SJU airports and the 25th Anniversary Remembrance Event of the Roselawn (IL) American Eagle 4184 accident
  • AERO and Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Working Group (ARFFWG) are now members of each other’s’ organizations. Partnering with ARFFWG provides a valuable link between our aviation and airline crisis experience to ARFFWG’s expertise in on-scene rescue 

In 2020, we are excited to welcome our current members and prospective new members:

  • Annual AERO BOD and General Membership Meetings (in conjunction with the Aviation Symposium) in Tysons Corner, VA Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel. More information on the Aviation Symposium is available here: https://www.foxrothschild.com/events/the-2020-aviation-symposium/
  • Additional learning materials will be made available to members on the AERO website http://www.aviationemergency.org
  • We are continuing to work with the FAA, NTSB and other organizations as they make policies and solicit input from industry experts like those in AERO
  • Participating in the ARFFWG Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, NV as BOD leadership and member continue their outreach efforts as we bring our expertise too industry conferences and business gatherings
